OC: Greg and Dave

finally, the colored version...

as I had promised, the story behind them:

a tale of redhead boy and his blind albino griffin...

Greg Foster is a bored teenager living in a ranch with his dad in Texas. Unpopular, constantly getting picked on with the jocks in his school, and too much a "toothpick" to make himself popular by joining any sporty clubs (and he also has severe asthma). He believed his life cannot be any better or worse, until he discovered a white griffin crashed in one part of his ranch, with an arrow pierced through its eyes, apparently being shot with a crossbow when trying to steal a stock from nearby barn.

At that time, he thought he'll instantly leap to the top of social hierarcy if he tell the media about his finding, but after looking at the griffin's pitiful condition, he ceased his intention. Instead he get inside of his house, take his dad's anesthetic gun and shoot the griffin. Then, dragged the griffin to an unused barn. He discovered that the griffin's eyes couldn't be saved and it's going to lose its eyesight forever. He took care of the griffin secretly, even though it's still vicious at that time, slowly the griffin started to be civil towards him, and eventually became completely tame.

He named the griffin "Dave" just because it looks like a dove (because it's white) and it's a male -_-, Dave cannot fly by his own again, but in the other hand Greg found a way to assist him through several kinds of whistles and clicks of tongue when riding him. The two become a very best friend and Greg couldn't think that his life can be any better after he tasted the sensation of freedom after flying with Dave. For them, they are like a puzzle that completes each other. For Dave, Greg is like a pair of his lost eyes, and for Greg Dave has given him a pair of wings that he could never had.

Everything went good until they learnt that they're not alone, there are others who also have simmiliar bond like what they share, and not all of them bear a good intention. Then, everything went downhill after that.

technical ramblings:
I wouldn't lie that drawing Dave was hard, it was my first time to draw mammal's body that bigger than cats . At first, I got problem with his body, solved, than with his paws, somekind solved, and next is his wings that gave problem. Bottomline, it wasn't easy, but I'm kinda satisfied by how it turned out, even though I know it's still far from perfect

btw....they're not the only OCs that I have, there are also several others with their own mythical creatures that I'll draw, later.......
